Why I Settled in The Southwest

Even though I am moving back to New York soon. I will also still live in the Southwest. I’ve lived in different places and traveled the world, so why out of all the places did I choose the Southwest? The number one reason is because I wanted to own. With limited cash and wanting to start the journey of bicoastal living, I bought a tiny home. From there, I traveled back and forth until settling in El Paso, Texas. During that time, I let go of my apartment in New York.

Another reason why I chose the Southwest is because the low cost of living. At the beginning of this process, I was making a lot of money – so, with the low cost of living and with my amount of money I was making, it was the perfect balance. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of the low-wage jobs or little to no jobs in the Southwest before shutting down my business.

Living in a big city like New York, you need an escape. Many New Yorkers have a place they go to get away from the noise and everyday hustle. I needed and wanted that also. But, I didn’t want to rent a place and pay more than what I could afford. I wanted to own, so I could build. Finally, I needed a quiet, secluded, and relaxing place to call home. The Southwest gives me that. If you are thinking about owning, consider the Southwest, but make sure you are prepared.
