As you all know, I recently began the process of switching careers. This will be my second time switching careers. I switched careers at twenty-nine and now, thirty- five. I’m switching from CEO to Doctor. I always wanted to be a Doctor. However, my first goal and dream was to be an Entrepreneur and have a business with my name on it. So, I became an Entrepreneur and now, I am moving forward with becoming a doctor. This process is NOT easy. Mainly, because I am switching from one demanding profession to another and I am NOT prepared. Below is a list of things I have done to prepare myself for a new career, a new place, and a new city and state.
#1) Going back to school.
- I will be going back to school to receive more education, training and certifications before going to medical school.
#2) I will look for a job within my new profession.
- I will be switching into the medical field. So, as I search for a new job, my main focus is medical related jobs.
#3) I switched my environment.
- I am NOT saying this is necessary. However, switching careers for me means switching income. I couldn’t do it in New York. If I were able to do it in New York, it wouldn’t be a smooth transition. So, I moved to another state and city.
Switching careers is a major step in life that not many people can do, or are willing to do. It’s a privilege. To prepare yourself for the switch, consider what makes you feel ready. I made major transitions to prepare for this next step in my life. It is NOT easy, but it’s necessary for the new life you want.
