As you all know, I live I minimalist lifestyle. This began in 2022. One of the main reasons why I decided on this lifestyle is I have lived a luxury life as a successful CEO for years and I realized two things. One, it is a waste of money. Two, I actually didn’t like the lifestyle. In the back of my mind, I would always think I could be putting my money towards more beneficial things or saving it. Year 2022 was the year I decided it was time. The most important thing about deciding to change my lifestyle is how much it benefited my company and me as a CEO.
Ever since I decided to change my lifestyle, my company has reached new heights. Changing my lifestyle helped me change my mindset and view entrepreneurship and its lifestyle differently. The method I use is called the one-of-each method. I started this process before 2022, but became more serious about it when I became a minimalist lifestyler. What is the one-of-each method? My goal is to have one of each thing I own and only buy as needed. For example, I have everyday shoes which is where I buy everyday shoes to walk around the city in. Only one. I buy a new pair every season. This is important living in New York. Most new pair of shoes only last a couple months or less if you walk to work or go out in the city a lot. This way of thinking is also used for my office, wardrobe, makeup, etc. I use the same coffee cup, wear the same winter coat, and wear the same running shoes. I will upgrade these things once needed. Just to let you know, I haven’t completed this process but by the end of 2024 – it will be complete. The goal is to not buy anything new unless needed.
How do I spend my money? I never spend unless I can spend it twice or make what I spent double or triple. I like the quote “if you can’t buy it twice, you can’t afford it.” – Unknown
I buy only what I need. Spending money on things I want is earned. For small things, I go the cheap route. However, for important (things I need to last) purchases – I go the expensive route.
